Who makes or where can I get a Tripod from that folds down around 10in's when not being used.
Are specific to the make of camera or are they universal? (mines a Fuji S9600)
Anything I should look for or avoid?

Velbon do good tripods, it's like a fastner plate you can keep on the bottom of the camera, and just attatch it to the tripod whenever you need it. The CX Mini is about 12" when folded down, but only extends up to 24".
