I got a voucher for Xmas, that I was going to put towards a new lens, a Sigma 10-20 mm Canon fit. At Xmas they were about £300. But because I'd had a bit of expense I waited... and NOW... £400? WTF. LM had warned me about prices, but why in a market where everything else is getting cheaper, is there a 33% price hike on camera gear?

:tears:

I assume that they are made abroad? Most things that are coming into the country are significantly more expensive than six months ago due to the pound falling on it's arse.

Told you fella, absolute madness.

The Canon 70-200 f/4 L was around £350 brand new towards the end of last year, with uber condition used ones going for around £300-320 ish. Now you've got uber condition used ones going pulling £450.

Same with the 24-105 f/4 L, that was about £500 new last year, now it's £800+

Really shite time to be buying camera gear.

yep think it was the 1st march for nikon gear its ridicuous my D40 is now worth £400 (according to nikons rrp) when i paid £300 for it last year, you can get it cheaper for now untill all old stock is sold on.
Its what made me buy my 50mm 1.8 when i did , it had gone up £30/40 a week later

I'd rather eat glass with broken fingers than pay anywhere near £400 for a D40.
