I think it's gonna have to be Sigma lenses. Who uses what? Just getting an idea of what costs what.

I've got mostly Canon but my 70-300 is a Sigma (APO DG Macro). It's a nice lens but no where near as fast to focus as Canon lenses. Sharp though.

Unless you are going to go pro I wouldn't worry too much about not having L lenses .

How would I know if one is the APO version? Just going to keep an eye on fleabay to see if any bargains come up

As Sy said, I wouldn't worry about not having uber lenses at the minute.

Sigma do good lenses, just depends on what you wanna spend etc.
