Not alot of difference, apart from the 500d battery sucks cock! Its drained too much by the fact that it has the video on there.
I personally would of saved the extra £50 and bought the 450D then put the notes towards a better lense. Its all about the Lens mate.

Nath's got one.
It's a good little camera, had a play with the HD video on Naths last time he was up here with it, quality is something else.

Obviously if i was to use the Video option alot then i'd need a backup battery or two.
Says 400 pictures per full battery which will do just fine also.
I won't need to spend some more pennies on a decent tripod either as my father has dug out 1 he used to use back in the day of taking pictures and processing them in the attic lol
It's really sturdy also.

How does the video effect the shutter activations?
i know cannon state a life span of 40000 activations, but been realistic it starts to show signs of age at 30k, i'm presuming it stays open for each video clip, or does it have a different sensor working of the mirror?

As said I have a 500D, the HD video is awesome and can be seen to full potential with some of the clips on youtube.
I like the camera and think its ideal to get used to all the shizzle involved in taking decent pics.
But why so long for delivery?

Nowt really to show you, check the torrent sites theres a tutorial dvd out there. It just shows you the basics really, best bet is to read the manual though.
