RAW Image Type

I only shoot in RAW if I am concerned about resolution of the final image, say if I want to print it A3. Other then that I shoot as large fine JPEG. Plus the write times of shooting in RAW on my 300D are too slow for most of the stuff I shoot.

Each to their own really, but you can make near enough the same changes to a JPEG with Lightroom as you can to a RAW with PS.
