Can I get classic insurance under 25 on a first year driving? That's why my insurance is going to be so much, wish they'd take the 4 years NCB I've got on the bike into account.
PS> Dan, would you not do another Beetle? The last one was fair good IIRC?

I would do another beetle, but i've still got the last one, i cant bring my self to flog it, plus i've spent so much on it, it's not worth me selling it. if i was to do another it would have to be a very early one and they do mad money.
as for the classic policy, yeh, you can get them if your over 23 |

Shit hot, may do that then, I'm 23 in a few months. Do they have to be limited mileage though?
Have you thought about older Mercs? Mid 90's? Not fancy a bike project?

yes to the limmited mileage, but you can limmit to like 8 or 10k a year which is prob all you'll do anyway in a 2.9 v6 4x4i.
not really interested in a bike project, bikes are for riding not pissing about with. |

Shame, RD's aren't bringing as much now, but means wrecks don't cost the earth either. Same with TZR250's, especially the reverse cylinder and v-twins. Old school BMW not take your fancy? I liked the boxy 3 series, like Jay used to have, with the long boots.

I used to have a 3ma, used to have to rade it with your hand over the clutch just in case lol... sold it and got an MC28 with an HRC card, loved that bike and it took some abuse too.
anyway, heading off topic now.. |

Nova? Yes yes I expect all the jokes and "shit car" comments, but a 2.0 16v in a stripped out Nova with some decent cams/exhaust/inlet and maybe some head work and you've got a pretty fast car for a decent price, my mate did a 13.8 second 1/4 mile in his stripped out Nova with just cams exhaust and a power cap SPAX RSX coil overs and some decent rubber.
Just remember to put decent suspension tyres and brakes on it, double its value |

i dont mind nova's either, they've gone past chav now. only thing is, unless i could find one withthe engine swapped, i would never swap it, i refuse to pay the silly money people want for a let or xe so i would have to buy a gte gsi to start with and they seam to do good money

GTE or GSi is only a 1.6 8v although they aren't bad in standard form, a mate of mine is selling a shell, it is in great condition, just had a new cross member and I think that was the only problem, standard C20XE with gearbox/ecu/loom should only set you back £300-500 tops although I would just buy the cheapest one I could find and rebuild it, as for parts, they can still be bought in good condition and I know a fair few people who can get good parts.
I would consider it, and I would go for a base model as the GTE's and GSi's are actually heavier (850 KG's or there abouts) to start with due to having electric windows and loom to work them, more interior bits, and strut top strengthening plates, so buying a pov spec and making it your own is a better idea (and pov specs weigh 735 KG's as do saloons Edit http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1991-VAUXHALL-...item20af578581 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1989-VAUXHALL-...item4a9e3d3b8c http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1990-VAUXHALL-...item4a9e54c0a3 Loads on ebay Last edited by lostboy; 9th February 2010 at 12:03 AM. This one isn't bad, I'd offer him what he's asking for it too, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/vauxhall-nova-...item27af2e1f56

it doesn't work out cheep though, £400 for the car, £300 for an engine, £100 for a set of wheels, £200 for paint, £100 for a trim, £100 suspension, £100 brakes and you can say another £200 on bits and bobs. your at £1500 without even trying, i could buy one someone else has done for less, take it appart and put it back togeather properly, and still have change. it's not so much about the money, but i would want to get my money back when i've finished if i decide i dont want to keep it. |
