though circumstances may prevail - a true mate who parted on terms should have no reasons to cause a fuss.
but they can always OWN you by saying you're just havin their cast offs I suppose.

i supose it depends how long they were together and if they still have feelings for each other but personaly it is a rule not to be broken avoid mates ex's it cant lead to anything good.

You should never go for a mates ex!
Its the un written rule. You just dont go there.
But;
Couple of my mates are with my ex's now. Don't speak to them but they do like each other so i told them to go for it. Its not nice when it happens to you but if i liked my mates ex i hope she wouldn't have a problem about it

ok seems everyone is looking at this from different perspectives :?
right lets look at 2 examples(am gonna look at it from a lads point of view, but ladies just swap boy for girl and vice-versa):
Number 1
say your out 1 night and pull some bird, you have a little fun together, nothing serious then decide your both not what each other wants so just stay mates and are happy.
Then your best mate turns to you and say he really likes the girl, and she really likes him and they could be REALLY happy together, you'd want your best mate to be single and un-happy instead just because its some stupid 'un-written rule'?
If so what kind of friend are you ?
Number 2
Your with a bird you love to bits, then she dumps your for your mate, hell yeah it would hurt to see them together but if your a true mate you'd want your friend to be happy, and even if it is with someone you cared for you'd understand.
If you'd rather see the people you call 'friends' alone and un-happy just to spare your feelings then they are better off without you anyway.

that aint so bad, coz u never had much in the first place with them.
that would b ok

if that was me id say fair enough if it keeps u happy, but dont bother talkin to me, i dont wanna know.
but i couldnt do it to a mate because i know it would break her heart and also rub it in her face. there for we`d grow apart.
it aint worth the stress!!! lol

I've been in a situation which called this question into play.
It was difficult, but TRUE FRIENDSHIP is somethin u can't tell you've got til you're forced to prove it.

so because your happy you'll let your friends be happy :?
if that was me id say fair enough if it keeps u happy, but dont bother talkin to me, i dont wanna know.
so you'd gladly give up a friendhsip and be the moody non caring associate just beacuse you haven't got your way ?
but i couldnt do it to a mate because i know it would break her heart and also rub it in her face. there for we`d grow apart.

sorry but i believe you probably could, your quick to spit the dummy if your not happy, and you'd give up a friend just for the sake of feelings that may change over time?
If i were one of the people you'd consider a friend i'd slap you back into place and say open your eyes, nothing is black and white and if you wouldn't let a friend be happy and support them then your not a friend to bother about.
Anywa thats my 2p, i've tried to discuss it in an adult fashion and there has been no abuse so don't go off on one please?

i see where ya comin from, but i wouldnt go with my mates bloke in the first place, and vis-versa.
all im sayin if she did i would let them get on with it. but wouldnt want to know the ins and outs, as most girls like discussin their sex life etc if their best buds.
if it was just some random bloke, then thats ok, either way round
neither of us would be fussed.

fair do, i was just trying to show that for all those people that said they definately wouldn't, and its some un-written law that they shouldn't go with soemone, that maybe they were looking at it from a different view to those that would.
As in my first example there is surely nothing wrong, but i could understand some people getting upset if it was from a long term relationship.
But in the end its not whether its an un-written law, its what kind of friend you are to them, and what kind they are to you.
A true friend will always want you to be happy no matter what feelings it may present them.
And if you've got friends like this make sure you look out for them, as those will be the ones you'll turn to in your hour of need.

lol, yes i ment it like;
wouldnt your mate take their OWN pain of NOT getting with your ex, to keep you happy.
i didnt kno if he ment it like;
would your mate take the pain of LETTING them go with their ex to see them happy.
oh god this is getting confusing now. well i know what i mean anyways.

I've certainly not lost any friends over it, and if I had they wouldn't be worth being my friend anyway.

If i broke up with Andy and my best mate started going out with him,
I'd open up her face no matter how good a friend she was, and shit in it.
oh and I'd smash Andys car up and, slit his throat.

so basically your emotionally unstable and desperatly clinging to what you've got as you know its only the easy sameness of your relationship thats keeping Andy with you
Shame lass, maybe one day you'll grow up, but most probably you'll stay as a spoilt self centred immature bunny boiler

No not at all Natty,
You know anyone would think it was Brad Pitt sat behind your keyboard, the way you go on about other people threatening them with all 4 ft of you.
How about slice your stumpy little fat fuck fingers the fuck off and be gone with you. Peasant:!:
Who asked you to comment on what i wrote? Not me.. therefore shut the fuck up and.... please grow a few inches before opening your stinking littlle P.O.R.G type mouth.
Now i won't reply to whatever you type next because your simply not worth my fucking keyboard skills, least of all the red hot stinking shit from my arse hole.

NO
It's one thing to stalk/hound/throw rocks at an ex, but you just DON'T touch his car. it's the unwritten rule of a break up. No matter what happens.
If I broke up with a bird and she so much as went within 3 feet of my car with a key in her hand, I'd slam her fucking fingers so hard in the door (on the loch mechanism bit) that it would take something out of the $64,000.00 man for her to regain use of it

No not at all Fatty.
You know the way you turn up with tight clothing on anyone would think your under the impression your slim :?
you DO KNOW that having little tyres popping over your pant line isn't attarctive and yes we do stare at you, but thats because we laugh at you in a sly behind the back way.
What was it a certain member on here said when we went to Brum?
' bet her thong looks like a gypsys dog rope ' now THATS funny
as for who asked me to comment? No-one, like no-one asked you to post on a PUBLIC board, if you do not want people to comment then don't post, it couldn't be more simple, well being related to you i suppose it would be more simple
You've shown yourself to be a bitter self obsessed desperate slag, then you try talk down to me?
NO.
it just doesn't happen, yes i have numerous faults but am happy in life, good job, good family and the fact am not a desperate CAR SLAG makes me years ahead in the evolutionary scale.
your a fucking nothing, a fat confused narrow minded niccotine blonde haired troll, i'd give the usual 'go slit your wrists' slander but leaving gravy stains all over the place is a mess to clean up so not really fair on others.

Again with me not bein able to view this site at work I can only reply now.
Cant be arsed readin through so dunno what other peoples comments are, but me personally would depend on a few factors.
If my mate finished them, how long they where together and whether they were good lookin.
If I decided to try out I'd ask my mate if it would bother them or not.
