been photographing insects in the garden.

Hard to focus on the little fuckers, their tiny size means you can't tell through the viewfinder whether you've got them or not.

There has been no after editing other than resizing as I recently removed my photoshop

Nice one Jon. I like some of them. Focus is a little out on most, but not bad for a first go. HAve you got a flash gun fella? You can get some awesome results bouncing light off the little buggers.

If you can get the POI (Points Of Interest) on your screen, that way you will be able to double guess if you have the little buggers in focus.

Good shots though

What would have been handy is if I had narrowed the app down a little to increase the depth of the focus, but I believe I had it wide open. Next time I'll put it into A priority and widen it up a touch instead of shooting in full manual.

I might do a little more tonight as it's good weather, the little fuckers should be everywhere.

I don't have a flashgun mike, I don't use flash at all TBH. I am just experimenting at the moment to be fair, not really got much time for photography but I do like these insect shots. This is all done on the stock lens too, I'd love one of those proper macro thingies.

Nice pics. I know f*ck all about photography but I can see the potential there if you get the settings right :)

You might also try photographing some mushrooms when they come up in a few weeks, always lots of nice colours and textures to capture! You been making any more models lately?

If you're into this, get a macro lens.

Also a ringflash, not a flashgun.

I always use Aperature priority for bugs and most other stuff too, not that I've managed any "really" good ones with the 18-70.

Tweedie - Even with POI on screen most AF lenses will struggle to "see" what you want to focus on.

I like the one in the motar.
