Purchased as seen in December 2008, this is to be my project over the coming month's/years.

Staying N/A (for the time being) I am converting this plush little run about into a lightweight, tough, track ready road legal hot hatch.

How she currently stands (current modification work):

Custom made, straight through, 2.25" bore re-routed cat back system (will also have cat replacement pipe fitted) with single 4" exit tailpipe. for improved flow.
(pic to follow)

Planned modification's:

Firstly cosmetic, as parts are hard to come by on this "shape" of mirage/satria, I will first swap the front end (headlight's, wings and bonnet) with the smoother, and cleaner later spec Colt/mirage which we have plenty of over here in the UK ( see pic below). So far I believe it will be quite a simple swap, with only keeping my front bumper being a little "customising" work around the headlamps. and to finish a re-spray in Gleaming white, possibly black.

Secondly, the interior is to be stripped and sold, (anyone wishing to purchase a full recaro interior for a mirage/colt or proton satria etc feel free to drop me a PM) and in its place will only sit a set of lightweight bucket seat's, cage and harnesses. NO INTERIOR bar the dash shall be left.

Thirdly, Suspension (coilovers, anti roll bars, polybushes etc) and engine modifications, when I find a decent distributor or parts for these engine's or save enough to fund shipping them from Australia.

Will update as I get on, weekend's plan is to begin the interior strip.

Couldn't be arsed waiting till weekend, so:
interior out and piled in my hall way

inside the car will be getting a tidy up of the wiring asap.

After doing all this, I had also decided to save the cash and not done the front end conversion, instead, repair the current damage and tidy it all back up. So the strip down began, and here's what I found:
Note how the left hand side corner sits lower than the right :(

Right hand side inner nice and straight:

Left hand side, not so:
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii24/coxie1981/022509_163102.jpg

And then I found a "buckle"

So decided the hammer is out in the morning and its getting straightened as much as possible, also a good rub down and clean up then a coat of black hammerite!!! pmsl, car will be black eventually so fuck it !

Next decided as she's having to be stripped down so much anyways I may aswell start removing the air con unit etc as I had planned, first problem I noticed after half removing the unit and rad was that the air con runs off the same belt as the power steering, so when I take it off, I'll lose power steering until I find a belt that will fit just the power steering :( wounded !

Secondly, my radiator although working perfectly, isn't looking too healthy!

:(

It got a little dark so this is how she is now sat outside, looking extremely sorry for herself.

you can see the "dip" a little clearer on this:

More to come tomorrow.

Update *

Knocked out the buckled panel as best as possible, to be fair, it's a bit fucked, so in the summer it will have a full new front panel and replacement inner wing fitted properly.

For now, Pikie repair.

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii24/coxie1981/022609_120201.jpg

All rusty bits rubbed down and treated.
as below, the bonnet is also still a little twisted, so that'll get replaced and possibly the bumper mounting brackets and reinforcer as this is also kinked slightly.

All built back up, headlamp is now straight, but it's not perfect, bumper seems a little low in comparison on the drivers side. it's a ball ache to get right. but it's mechanically alot straighter and the headlamps dont point at the floor :D

Took some more interior out, no more roof lining :D kept the light for now

Also removed all of the air con unit, etc, unfortunately lost power steering until I find a belt to run on only the power steering pump.

Next step, brake caliper refurb kits and new pistons.
