personally i prefer the integra, more of a drivers car

Grant
20th December 2004, 01:25 PM
go for the integra....
whats brought this on? the fact you cant do anymore to the clio????

Mike H
20th December 2004, 01:30 PM
Bastard insurers telling me one more mod and they will void my policy.

PLUS I'm having my operation in 6 months so will most probably sell my motor and save all my cash for a new motor.....was looking on the web yesterday, the ITR I liked was £15,000 and a mint FTO for £10,000. Personally I like the ITR better I just wanted a few peeps opinions.

Mr.B
20th December 2004, 01:37 PM
its hard to say but i would go for an FTO tbh. dunno why, they just look betta.

Mike H
20th December 2004, 01:43 PM
I could pick up a decent Teg old school shape for about £7k, could use the rest to send it to Jap Innovations for a turb conversion!

mattbuk
20th December 2004, 01:44 PM
hmmm i like the fto shape better then that one

SyKaTurbo
20th December 2004, 01:48 PM
I love fto's but the thing that really lets them down for me is them awful mirrors!!

Integra is just hardcore and sounds awesome when being caned!

Mike H
20th December 2004, 01:53 PM
I like the FTO's but the new Teg has really caught my eye. Am not as keen on the old shape, it's the headlights that I don't like!

mattbuk
20th December 2004, 01:55 PM
Same here they spoil it

Bulldog
20th December 2004, 02:09 PM
The FTO's definatly look better but the teg's are the best handling front wheel drive car ever. Get it done fella

Bodge
20th December 2004, 03:57 PM

Mike H
20th December 2004, 03:59 PM

OLD! 8) Id not be ashamed to come out for a spin then! Unless you stick some crap kit on it of course.

lol!! When I do get a new motor, the only mods that will be done will be rims, exhaust and suspension. After that purely tuning to the engine to get it as fast as fook!

SyKaTurbo
20th December 2004, 04:20 PM
just a note as you may not know.

chequer plate and neons aren't counted as performance mods! :P

True. It just makes it all very clinical to work on though and doesnt need polishing like chrome does!

I would get the Integra Type R definately, I like the FTO but there are many more of them around!

pyro
20th December 2004, 05:39 PM
FTOs suck balls.
Get a DC5 Integra in white with white wheels, or mebbe blue, or black.
There's a blue one round my way. Very nice, indeed, even if I do hate VTEC engines.
Mugen/Spoon handling/tuning parts. 'nuff said.

http://www.neweraimports.com/Nebusis/pictures/cars/1100593408527//pic1100597561773.jpg

Could get a supra for the same kind of money.

Mike H
20th December 2004, 08:24 PM
Here endeth the king of Jap's reading!! You must have a ''Jap post sensor'' on your computer pyro!! The teg you posted looks sweet in that colour, I'm swaying more and more towards one of them....not too bothered if it's a V-TEC as a lawnmower engine would be an upgrade on the one I currently own......

Not sure on a supre, the Teg's are a 1.8 even if they do run at a shade below 200bhp, and are altogether a more ''insurable'' propostion for me......plus if I were to get a Supra, the insurance on the Twin Turb would cripplke me so I would have to settle for something less than that, where as I can have the ITR and insure it!! :P

pyro
20th December 2004, 08:33 PM
That's got the DC5 bodykit on it and its good to go at 15k, virtually new, imported OTR. The insurance will be pretty high on an import, anyway, so you could get a non-turbo UK supra but like you say a 3.0 might be a bit of a silly insurance proposition. Who knows?
15k is a lot of dosh to throw around...why not keep the current motor 'til you're more insurable, keep saving and get something obscene, later?

FQ-400MX, perhaps? ;)

My reasoning behind hating VTECs is that they're an economising method. You're sitting in (in my case, a Celica TSport) a 140bhp car, until you really kick it in the bollocks and rev its arse off, then...after a few seconds, you'll get a 50hp boost. Its like...a turbo'd saxo, really, with bad lag. After 7 months driving it, I just couldn't cope with having to shift down, ALL the bloody time.

Course, I'm an old bastard, now, so more torque-y cars are insurable.

The Teg R, btw, lapped Tsukuba circuit faster than a 350Z. They handle THAT well.

Mike H
20th December 2004, 08:46 PM
Pyro, you should sell Teg's matey!! You just sold that to me!! I'm having my major knee operation in June or July this year so may be off the road for 6 months, I've now got FULL no claims too!! So hopefully selling the Clio, touch wood won't crash, will raise me just over half what I need and with RSA kindly paying me full sick pay and me having almost nil outgoings, by the end of it I should have the majority of the funds needed!!

The Teg intrests me as you rarely see many of them, especially the new shape, and it just looks AWESOME, and with what you say about the handling, I just don't see myself looking elsewhere now!! :D

pyro
20th December 2004, 11:55 PM
They're seriously rare. I almost kacked myself seeing one locally. I didn't see a single one at JAE.

The insurance will probably be similar to a CTR +~25%, so that should be reasonable on full no claims. In fact...get a bunch of test drives in a CTR, get used to the engine...see if its 'for you.' Some people love the hi-lift cam thing and some ppl HATE it. The Teg is a roomier CTR, infinitely rarer, with a more balanced and tighter chassis, a bit more power and a better suspension. Not bad, really...no wonder they didn't launch it in the UK. ;)

Best just keep well away from Me, Natty and Blackpool full stop till then i reckon matey!

Jam

i told u it better than an fto! shame u cant get a right hand drive acura rsx!!!

Merv
21st December 2004, 11:54 PM
Jam, Acura RSX IS an Integra Type R DC5 (new shape). it's just badged as that in the States, so left hand drive. Jap imports are right ahnd drive though. :)

Mike, i'll be extremely jealous if you get a Teg!! I've wanted a Teg for ages. They're awesome cars, handling is unbelieveable, 1.8 DOHC VTEC engine with 197bhp is plenty enough to keep you going, although they're very tuneable too. :D

The DC2 (old one) may not look as pretty as the new one, but it's just as good. The new one is a 2.0 with more power, think its 220, but only available as an import. I think it wasn't released over here to make sure the CTR sold well. :(

Insurance wise though the DC2 is a group 18, and the DC5 will be even higher! Seems quite a high group to me, but it is called a race car for the road... ;)

Mike H
22nd December 2004, 12:06 AM
It's going to be a while off fella, I need to get my knee operation out of the way in June, and will be off the road for up to 6 months, but as soon as I can drive that DC5 is going to be mine!! :D

pyro
22nd December 2004, 09:12 AM
CTR is 17, Celica TS is 18, so 18 for the Teg R isn't totally unreasonable, in context.

Whahay...more jap cars on the road. :D

btw, I crashed mine, last night. Very gently...

Shit, what happened?

Nothing major. East Lancs was flooded, so despite braking, with hugeass rear tyres, I aquaplaned into the armco. Scratched alloy, scuffed arch. Should fix easily enough, with a couple of hundred well applied pound notes.

Mike, if you buy an FTO I will throw paint stipper all over it  The do suck nuts.

Get a teg, the old skool one, in that Ivory white, mmmmmmm, big red recaros as standard.

DO IT!!!!

pyro
23rd December 2004, 09:11 AM
Yeah, it was a bit of a bastard.

Yeah, just thought I'd clarify, it wasn't the new teg R that lapped Tsukuba faster than the Z, it was the old, old shape (prior to the one with fugly round lights). They've had to compromise on the race-car handling suspension on the more recent models, to appeal to a wider (American) market. :(

Of course...its easily fixed. ;)

Flmao.....you would throw stripper on it too!!

It's going to be a Teg, but I prefer the new one aas apposed to the old with the butt ugly front lights!! Although I seen the red interior, and it looks awesome!! :D

Naw, its the one prior to that, dude.

This one...

Thats tasty, but I prefer the newer shape to be fair!

pyro
23rd December 2004, 10:58 AM
Oh, yeah...the new one is much more contemporary in its design but that old one was the ultimate track car. I think there's still a company in the UK that sells stripped out race versions of it.

Course, you're g'na have Spoon and Mugen parts to choose between. Ooh, what a horrible choice to have to make. ;)

Mike H
23rd December 2004, 12:44 PM
Pyro, do you know any GOOD stockists of the jap imports then mate around the north west? I feel the need for a scouting session very soon! 8)

pyro
23rd December 2004, 01:13 PM
There are import stockists in the NW?
Most of the ones I know are down south.

Check out www.neweraimports.com and www.linney.org

Both got great reps and if you speak to the relevant ppl, they'll sort out the car you want, for the money you've got, especially new era.

Mike H
23rd December 2004, 01:35 PM
Truely awesome.........there were so many amazing DC5's in there all for around the £15k mark, low mileage, with over 220 horses!! Awesome!! I will be looking nearer the time for sure! 8)
