106 Rallye

Well had the car just over a year now and still haven't made a project thread for it so here goes:

current spec:

Engine: 1600cc 16valve VTS engine conversion, 4 branch manifold, full stainless magnex de-cat system.

~ Suspension: lowered 90mm on bilstein shocks all round
powerflex poly bushes all round with poly engine mount

~ Brakes: Brembo 4 pot calipers with 307 hdi 283mm discs, standard rear discs and pads

~ Wheels/Tyres: 15" fox R1 alloys painted matt black Nankang and Wanli's!

~ Exterior: dtm mirrors, colour coded door handles, matt black bonnet

~ Interior: OMP ARS seats, Luke harnesses, momo trek steering wheel, momo gear knob, colour coded dashboard, stripped out, omp 10 point roll cage in day glow orange, fire extinguisher,

~ ICE: Kenwood KDC-W808 head unit, pioneer 250w door speakers.

~ Security: Falcon Evo+4 pager alarm system

Bought the car this time last year from one of Ricky's mates. Drove it back down to the townhall had it off the clock and on the limiter in 5th :D

then i gave it a good wash on the outside, fitted a new steering wheel and a decent head unit.

then i fitted some proper rallye decals and my 4 point harnesses and fibreglass seats out of my imp and went to mallory park with ricky n ben, gave it a right good thrashing getting the back end out on a bend at 90mph after having it for 2 weeks :lol: :lol:

the boot floor had started to rot and where it had become weakend had started cracking the boot floor. so with the help of ben we welded in a couple of plates and a rear brace/harness bar lol

got bored and painted a few bits of my dashboard too lol

then the next mod, was to paint the roll cage, so i played about with photoshop and decided on orange.

toyed with the idea of leaving the dash out too but ended up cutting most of mine away so it looks like a car lol

then after seeing a thread on one of the forums i decided to paint my angel eyes black to match my matt black bonnet.

then i went to donny show 07 and took it on track, where it was well and truely pants but i had fun anyway

after donny i had nothign but trouble with it. i hit a pothole and it basically made the ecu have a right paddy.

so between april - july it was off the road.

i re wired the full car fitting new looms and a new ecu and nearly every sensor on the engine.

full poly bush kit front and read inc engine mount

new ball joints, track rod ends, drop links and a wheel bearing.

new brakes, brembo 4 pots off a 406 v6:

took it to USC @ santa pod, and managed a 15.8 :( but my clutch was slipping badly and when i got home i realised i had a snapped engine mount again.

just been to trax and it seems to be ok just overfuelling but ill sap it to my spare ecu see if that sorts it.

thats about it for now really got a few little bits n bats ive done to it, ill post em when i get pics.

right heres a couple more ive done in the last few weeks.

cut the dashboard down weighs a lot less now, tidied up the wriing/fusebox etc etc by hiding it away in a neat little aluminium box.

wired my fans in to manual switches as i just prefer it that way. along with the heater blower and washers as they stopped working. horns only temporary until i find out why it doesnt work on the stalk. its real carbon fibre too lol made it from an old battery cover haha

also mounted my seats properly on some OMP seat frames, feels loads better now just the right height.

ive fitted my battery box in my boot as it wouldnt fit behind my seats, just waiting for my cable to turn up so i can re-locate the battery.

well as most will know my car likes to destroy engine mounts and driveshfts and gearboxes!

just thought id stick a few pics up from today lol, oh and then theres the locking wheel nuts i managed to get off lol

only took me 40 minutes to get the driveshafts off, power steering pump and gearbox off, i didnt leave gallons of oil all over my street and i didnt lose any tools, VVinner!

went to the RR day with PGAC at awesome gti, wasnt going to run mine but changed my mind half way through lol

was quite impressed with mine considering all the trouble ive had with it lately engine management light was on etc

3 runs:

Max clutch power: 132.86
torque: 106.24

thats 16v, 4 branch, de cat and some shite air filter lol
