Right, well to cut a long story short, the cars been in the wars a little bit this last 12 months. 4 lads tipped the car over early one Sunday morning last year, damaging all the passenger side of the car and Pritty much writing the car off. With the weather not being good over winter, and not being much better this year, it's still not been fixed.

Aside from the damage down the passenger side, theres little dinks, dings and bumps dotted around a few areas of the car, as well as a few scratches on the rear bumper and drivers side passenger door.

To add to this, my mum reversed out of a driveway a few months ago and scraped the sill all down a rock that was in the garden, making a bit of a mess of it.

Some of the damaged panels will have to be replaced as it woulden't be worth fixing, but 70% of it can be repaired with a little time and effort.

I decided to go for the most obvious bit of damage on the car first, which is the drivers sill. Did a little bit of cleaning up of it first, but this is basically how it looked before i started.

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b275/SNOWFLAKE16_/Polo/IMG_4887.jpg

So i began flatting the rough areas with some wet and dry, bit of elbow grease and 15 minutes later it was looking like this.

Bit more elbow grease and another 15 minutes or so later and it was looking like this.

Did all i could do for the day as the car was needed, so gave the area a wash, wipe down and smeared it in grease just after the pictures were taken. This is how it looks now.

When we got the replacement mirror for the passenger side, it was a different shade of colour to the car's colour.

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b275/SNOWFLAKE16_/Polo/IMG_4919.jpg

Plus, it was uber scratched and marked, but it was cheap and with it being heated and electric, and also VW, there never cheap.

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b275/SNOWFLAKE16_/Polo/IMG_4921.jpg

So, flatted it down.

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b275/SNOWFLAKE16_/Polo/IMG_4938.jpg

The mirror is heated, so was just a case of tilting the glass, getting a small screwie and flicking a couple of catches. Unplug 2 wires and the glass came out easy enough.

Also, with it being electric, the wires go down inside the door, so had to strip the door panel off which was simple to do, few screws and voila.

Gave the car a well deserved clean and a fucking good polish, spent a good few hours on it. Can't remember the last time it was polished, luckily it's always been washed regularly so the paintwork is still spot on.

I gave the car a wash & polish on Thursday night but since then it's done 150 miles and been up/down the motorway 4 times.

So, decided to go all out and give the car possibly the biggest clean it's ever had, started at 10am and only just finished, but fuck me is it clean.

Started with the engine/engine bay.

And the car after a wash, polish, interior valet & back-to-black.

Update.

Got to work on the sill today, got it flatted down again to get rid of any last bits of shit, cleared up all the rust, got some filler on it and flatted it down to shape. Theres a few low spots in the filler so it will need to be quickly skimmed over again before primer, but all in all it's looking better. Had to stop due to it starting to rain

Got on the job again tonight and gave it a 2nd skim over with filler, and a good sand down. Looks 10x better again on yesterdays efforts, its the right shape now and almost ready for primer. Needs 1 more light skim over to get rid of a few high spots where i've gone a bit low with the sanding.
